The teacher of LifePoint Church’s Girls Missions class approached me (Ashley Kate) a few weeks ago and asked me what kind of craft project her girls could do for the kids at Wherry. The girls in her class are Kindergarten through 5th grade, and she wanted to give her girls a chance to help other kids their age living in the same town. We brainstormed a bit and came up with the idea of making hair accessories for the girls. This turned out to be a hit — both with the girls making them and the girls receiving them. It was so neat to see the impact this had on the girls class as they learned that being a missionary doesn’t mean you have to go to another country and to see the excitement of the girls receiving these cute crafts. This was such a good reminder that doing missions doesn’t always mean doing difficult things, but rather using your gifts and talents to glorify God and serve others.
